First-Gen at Iowa Awards &Recognition Ceremony

At the University of Iowa, a first-generation student is a student who does not have a parent or legal guardian who completed a four-year degree, and almost 25% of UI undergraduates identify as first-generation. The annual awards ceremony is an exciting opportunity to celebrate our first-generation community and their many accomplishments. The ceremony, which coincides with the University of Iowa's participation in the National First-Generation College Celebration, also features the presentation of the 1stGen@Iowa Awards. These awards recognize first-generation student achievements as well as outstanding advocacy and support efforts of faculty and staff.
