Biography

First-generation college students are capable of transforming the opportunities available to their families and communities. This was the certainly the case with my family. My parents were first-generation college students from working-class backgrounds who went on to earn their PhDs. Their academic accomplishments have enabled my own achievements in education and the workforce, as well as those of my extended family. As such, first-generation students play a crucial role in our society and it is important to support them on their academic journey.
