Hi, I'm Alison, I am first-generation just like you! I am from Northern Illinois and I went to the University of Iowa for both my undergraduate and graduate degrees. I love the sports, my favorite teams are the Chicago Cubs and Iowa women’s basketball. I love Chicago foods and am always talking about deep dish pizza, Chicago dogs, and Garrets popcorn.  I work as an academic advisor in the Tippie College of Business. I help students navigate the academic side of college life, including learning how to read their degree audit, pick out courses, and finding academic resources to name a few things. Having been in your shoes, I can recognize the ways being first-generation will impact your experience and I am excited to support you along the way. I can help you find ways to connect to campus and am happy to provide a listening ear. Often when you are unfamiliar with higher education you don’t know where to begin, I am happy to help you find the starting line.
