Peggy Trosper
I am a Clinical Assistant Professor and Practicum Administrator with the School of Social Work in the Des Moines Center. Prior to joining the UI faculty in 2024, I was an Instructor at The University of Alabama School of Social Work for over six years. I am from Eastern Iowa originally and the UI is my alma mater, so it's nice to be back home! Some of the courses I teach are, "Engaging with Evidence," and "Program and Practice Evaluation," which are research courses. My social work practice experience has mostly been at the macro level. For example, between 2014-2017, I served as a Program Manager for a HRSA grant with The University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine, Division of Child and Community Health and led a statewide initiative to develop Iowa's first state-level strategic plan for Autism programs and services across the lifespan. I have extensive experience in grant writing, working for both for- and not-for-profit hospices, and have conducted multiple presentations on topics related to hospice and end of life care, family caregiving, Dementia, and grief. I look forward to supporting UI students as they navigate the campus, resources, classes, activities, and more. I was a first generation, nontraditional student who transferred to the UI from a community college several years ago and understand students who have similar experiences. Outside of the UI, I enjoy spending time with my family, playing the piano, going on walks in nature, and reading (my current favorite author is Ruth Ware). Please reach out anytime and let me know how I can best support you and your journey with The University of Iowa. Go Hawks!
