Britt Hokanson
I serve as a graduate program administration assistant within the Biomedical Science - Molecular Medicine and Neuroscience programs, where I support students throughout their academic journey—from recruitment and onboarding to milestone tracking and program completion. My role centers on student success, problem-solving, and helping students navigate the often complex systems of higher education. I work closely with faculty and trainees to ensure students feel supported, informed, and empowered in their academic and professional development.
I enjoy assisting students with navigating university systems, understanding graduate school expectations, time management, professional communication, and career planning. I am especially passionate about helping students build confidence, advocate for themselves, and identify campus resources that can support their goals. I’m happy to talk through challenges related to imposter feelings, professional etiquette, goal setting, and balancing academic responsibilities. My goal is to help students feel less overwhelmed and more confident in making informed decisions about their academic and career paths.
I grew up in northern Minnesota, so I genuinely love winter — especially snow, cold weather, and ice hockey season. I have two cats, Cordelia and Edgar Allan Purr, who absolutely bring me joy. I’m also passionate about self-expression in all its forms, whether that’s fashion, painting, creative writing, or crafting. As someone who values authenticity and creativity, I strive to create spaces where students feel comfortable being themselves. I understand that being the first in your family to navigate higher education can feel isolating at times, and I aim to be approachable, supportive, and encouraging. No question is too small, and I’m always happy to connect.
