Hi, everyone! My name is Daniela Sanchez, and I serve as a Program Coordinator in the Carver College of Medicine’s Office of Education Support. In this role, I am helping develop a free summer program for undergraduate Iowa residents who are interested in pursuing careers as physicians or physician assistants. Our goal is to help participants strengthen their academic skills, explore career pathways, and access resources that support their personal and professional development.

I am a proud first-generation college graduate from rural Iowa. I earned my B.A. in Social Justice with a minor in Latina/o/x Studies from the University of Iowa. My educational journey was shaped by programs such as TRIO Upward Bound, TRIO Student Support Services, and The Iowa Edge, which provided the mentorship and community I needed to succeed.

Inspired by the support I received, I went on to mentor students through TRIO Upward Bound, The Iowa Edge, the Iowa First Nations Summer Program, The Summer Health Professions Education Program. I continue to carry that passion for mentorship into my work today. I enjoy helping students navigate resources, build confidence in new environments, and pursue their academic and career goals with a strong sense of belonging.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, friends, and my kitty, reading, and going for walks. I am excited to connect with you and support you throughout your journey at Iowa!
