David Moser

Professor of Psychiatry
Biography

I'm a neuropsychologist in the Psychiatry Department, where I do a mix of patient care (diagnostics and psychotherapy), research, and teaching. Another part of my job involves working in the Program for Access and Engagement. The mission of our program is making the University of Iowa an increasingly welcoming and inclusive place for people of all backgrounds and identity groups, and I absolutely love working on that team. I also serve as Vice Chair for Faculty Affairs and Development in Psychiatry, with expertise in fostering career development. My main skills as a neuropsychologist include diagnostics and psychotherapy. However, I am also heavily involved in career development, leadership, teaching, and research. I feel well positioned to help students navigate various challenges and potential educational and career paths. On a personal note, I'm originally from the Boston, MA area but have lived in IA for 25 years. The most important parts of my life include family and friends, working hard to create a welcoming and inclusive environment both at work and in the community, and I also enjoy biking, running, hiking, volunteering in dog rescue, interacting with my own dogs, and playing hockey.
