Aislinn Williams

Associate Professor of Psychiatry
Associate Director for Research at Iowa Neuroscience Institute
Biography
I am a neuroscientist and clinical psychiatrist, and I run a lab that focuses on how genes associated with neuropsychiatric disorders orchestrate aspects of brain development. I serve in the leadership of the Iowa Neuroscience Institute as the Associate Director for Research, and I am also the faculty liaison for the First Generation and Low-Income in Medicine (FGLIMed) student group at the Carver College of Medicine.

I can help students identify and select educational, research, and clinical opportunities for their applications to medical and/or graduate school in basic science programs.

Personally, I am a first-generation college graduate from rural Wisconsin and I come from a low-income background. I know how challenging it can be to get through college when finances are a concern. It's important to me to support other first-gen students and help folks feel a greater sense of belonging here at UI.

Proud to be First-Gen Emblem
