I am a first-generation college graduate from Three Lakes, Wisconsin. I am also from a low-income background and my family relied on reduced-price lunch at our public schools along with my parents working multiple jobs to make ends meet. I know how challenging it can be to get through college when finances are a concern. My family was always very supportive of me, although they were definitely a little confused when I told them that I was going to continue my education for another 8 years after finishing college! It's important to me to help support other first-gen students and help folks feel a greater sense of belonging here at UI.
