I am the Assistant Director and a Senior Scientific Editor and Writing Consultant in the Scientific Editing and Research Communication Core (SERCC) in the Carver College of Medicine at the University of Iowa. In my role, I help researchers to effectively communicate their science in a way that is accessible to a diverse array of audiences: experts in the field, scientists who work in other areas, and the general public. This allows me to combine my love of science with my passion for clear writing and helping others. In my role I also run the SERCC internship program, which provides me with the opportunity to mentor other scientists who may be interested in a career in scientific editing.

In my free time my husband and I enjoy taking our two sons on new outdoor adventures: to the mountains, the beach, or anywhere in between.
