I am an assistant professor of learning sciences and educational psychology in the College of Education at Iowa. My academic and professional experiences are deeply informed by my experience as a first-generation immigrant and international student. While I excelled at school, I had little awareness of how to pursue opportunities beyond the classroom, such as engaging in research as an undergraduate. Fortunately, a mentor invited me to join her research team, which helped me build skills and confidence that shaped my path through graduate school and being a faculty member.
