Biography

Mentors had a huge impact on the development of my knowledge, skills, and abilities that prepared me for career success. However, it wasn't until the second half of my undergraduate experience that I found mentorship and realized the benefits from it. I share this because, while I was not a first-gen student, it took me time to understand the value of mentorship and identify appropriate mentors. By serving as a 1stGen@Iowa mentor, I hope to support students find and reap the benefits of mentorship earlier. This will help the person begin the development of their knowledge, skills, and abilities sooner and thrive in a new environment.
