Viridiana Hernández Fernández

Assistant Professor, History
Biography

I was born and raised in Mexico City, where I lived most of my life. I moved to the United States to do my PhD in History, and I was confused most of the time! Navigating college education can be a challenge for everybody, and sometimes it is hard to know what to do or whom to reach, especially when we are the first ones at home doing it. Although sometimes disoriented, I also had the best time of my life in those years thanks to a group of people (friends, mentors, community) who made sure to let me know not only that college was a place for me but also how to sail the academic environment, from taking effective notes in the classroom to where to find the best burrito al pastor in campus. That should be everybody's experience! La universidad puede ser mucho más secilla si preguntamos y hablamos siempre que lo necesitamos. I can help with that!
