Vickie Houser
I serve as the Assistant Director in Student Disability Services (SDS) at the University of Iowa. My educational path included earning a BA in Psychology and two Mater’s degrees – one in Applied Psychology, Counseling and one in Higher Education, Student Affairs. I have several roles when it comes to working with students with disabilities here at Iowa. I run the day-to-day operations of the SDS office; review student applications and documentation to approve students for accommodations; provide training to new staff; coordinate our Academic Support programs; and carry a small caseload of students I work with.
My goal is to support students who are advocating for their approved accommodations by listening, advocating with them, and providing training when needed to share more about accommodations and what our office does.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, especially my 7 grandchildren. I also love to bake, and share treats with others whenever I have them.
