Biography

As a minority graduate student at the University of Iowa, the institution and the state can be isolating. Thus, I am passionate about mentorship to help students navigate spaces that can feel alienating and find belonging. Through my experiences as a graduate instructor, I love helping students figure out complex problems and find empowerment to tackle challenges. Additionally, since I work for UIowa as both a student and as an instructor, I have a lot of knowledge on how to navigate the university through both perspectives. Lastly, I am particularly passionate about helping BIPOC students find belonging and connection at the University of Iowa - I want to give back and support however I can, considering I often didn’t have POC mentors through most of my educational journey.
