Daniela Sanchez

Program Coordinator, Office of Education Support, CCOM
Biography
Hi everyone! My name is Daniela Sanchez, and I currently serve as the Program Coordinator for the Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP) at the University of Iowa. In this role, I coordinate a free summer enrichment program that supports college students—especially those who are first-generation and/or low-income—who are interested in careers in the health professions.
I’m a proud first-gen college graduate from West Liberty, Iowa, and I earned my B.A. in Social Justice with a minor in Latina/o/x Studies from the University of Iowa in 2022. My own educational journey was shaped by programs like TRIO Upward Bound, TRIO Student Support Services (SSS), and The Iowa Edge, which gave me the mentorship and community I needed to succeed. Inspired by the guidance I received, I went on to serve as a mentor for TRIO Upward Bound, The Iowa Edge, and the Iowa First Nations Summer Program, and I continue to carry that passion for mentorship into the work I do today. I enjoy helping students navigate resources, build confidence in new environments, and pursue their academic and career goals with a strong sense of belonging.
Outside of work, I love spending time with family and friends, exploring local coffee shops, and going on walks. I’m excited to connect with you and be a supportive part of your journey here at Iowa!
Let me know if you have any questions.
Proud to be First-Gen Emblem
