I am from Iowa City and was the first in my family to earn an undergraduate degree. I didn't find my career path immediately, but eventually found my calling as an academic advisor at the UI. It is deeply satisfying for me to play a small role in the lives of UI students and help them chart their paths forward. I didn't have anyone like that when I attended the UI. No one asked me how my classes were going or encouraged me to go to the career center to work on my resume. I never envisioned this career path for myself, but I'm grateful to be in a position that has allowed me to be a mentor to hundreds of students.
