As a librarian, I've worked with off-campus or online students for about 25 years. Frequently, the students I've worked with have been "non-traditional" in one way or another - older students preparing for a new career, international students, military preparing to enter the civilian workforce. One thing all had in common was life experiences and perspectives that both highlighted the importance of education to them without the expectation that higher education was the only viable path. I've learned quite a lot from the students I've worked with and enjoy helping students - any students - get the most out of their education.
