Jess Dillahunt

Senior Admission Counselor
Biography

Supporting first generation students is so important to me, because I identify with the unique challenges a first generation college student may face. I am a proud first generation student myself, and grew up on a dairy farm in rural Northeast Iowa. The combination of adjusting to a larger area and being the first in my family to pursue a four-year degree brought challenges, lessons, and also a lot of joy. Though I typically work with incoming students, I would like to be a resource for students with a similar background who may need some guidance, or just someone to listen.

My role on campus is to work with prospective students through the admission process. I also coordinate the University of Iowa’s involvement in the Small Town and Rural Student College Network, including on campus programming for rural and small town students at recruitment events.
