Biography
I am a Professor of English at the University of Iowa. In my role on campus, I teach courses on medieval mysticism, romance, Geoffrey Chaucer, representations of "others" (like Jews and Muslims), the sex/gender system, and cultural studies. My new book project explores how participants in the "long 1960s" (activists, artists, hippies, countercultural folk) engaged with the epic fantasies of J. R. R. Tolkien. I’m here to connect with students who have questions about maximizing study strategies, exploring future goals, solving challenges on campus or in life, or simply need someone to talk to or listen.
In my free time, I enjoy cooking, hiking, and yoga. If you'd like a recipe for the best chocolate chip cookies ever, I've got it!
